I am thirsty, a pebble,
Stooped and lonely bones
And stone.
I am parched and longing and gone.
I am eating a mango,
Sweet, my life tastes sweet
And meaty.
Communion: fruit drips down my chin.
I am stepping off the raft,
There are no waters
Between the arid and the lush places—
Between thirsty and sated.
There is only a spasm and then expansion,
Forgetting and then remembering,
Distraction and then presence,
Then and then now.
